Steven R. Wilf is the Anthony J. Smits Professor of Global Commerce at the University of Connecticut School of Law and a leading scholar of intellectual property law, historical jurisprudence, and comparative legal history. His work explores how the past origins of legal processes shape contemporary normative outcomes. He is the author or editor of several books, including , Law’s Imagined Republic: Popular Politics and Criminal Justice in Revolutionary America, The Law Before the Law, and (with Graeme Gooday) Patent Cultures: Diversity and Harmonization in Historical Perspective. He holds a J.D. from Yale Law School and a Ph.D. in History from Yale University. Professor Wilf has held fellowships and visiting positions at institutions such as Harvard University’s Radcliffe Institute, Princeton University, Yale Law School, the United States Copyright Office, the Centre d'Études Internationales de la Propriété Intellectuelle,  Freie Universität in Berlin, the Israel Institute for Advanced Studies, and the Hebrew University Faculty of Law.
