David Joseph KC is a preeminent legal expert, barrister and also arbitrator at Essex Court Chambers, where he has been a member since 1985 and took silk in 2003. His expertise spans international arbitration and jurisdiction disputes, with a practice that extends across the common law world, including appearances before the highest courts in England and Wales, Singapore, Hong Kong and Eastern Caribbean Court of Appeal. He was appointed as a Vice President of the Court of the LCIA in 2024 and was Chair of the Commercial Bar in England and Wales from 2021-2023.  Professor Joseph's commendable career is marked by numerous accolades, including being chosen as Silk of the Year in International Commercial Arbitration by both Chambers Directory and the Legal 500 in 2013. He is also a prolific author, having penned influential works such as Jurisdiction and Arbitration Agreements and their Enforcement, which has become a standard reference in the field. He lives in London with his family.  Outside of law he has written a moving story of his Austrian family – Burgenland, Village Secrets and the First Tremors of the Holocaust (Amberley 2023).
